Happy 18th birthday Haru (our exchange student)

Tony Jacobs spoke of, and asked for support, for the grant partnership with Yea & District Memorial Hospital, as notified in email recently circulated, to set up a permanent clinic at Yea Sale Yards to enable health checks to be carried out while farmers are attending the sales. It is planned to apply for a grant through Elders for $20,000 and for the club to assist the hospital on a 50/50 basis for cost difference. Shire will support by providing connections to utilities and amenities.
Rotary Club of Yea members agreed to provide a letter of support to the Yea Hospital in their application for the grant.

• An environmental sample of the cVDPV (circulating Vaccine-Derived Polio Vi-rus) was detected in Lae, PNG, on 11 March. With a similar sample testing pos-itive in Indonesia last year, it shows how close the polio virus is to Australia. This variant of the polio virus occurs in countries where there is pressure on the health system through low immunity rates and reinforces the need to continue vaccinating all children against a range of diseases.
