Tonight we celebrated International Night, a celebration of Japanese and Thai Cultures.

David Ander
son, MC for the night, welcomed us all with a Traditional Welcome reflecting our indigenous, Thai and Japanese cultures. Sadly, Tippy, who has put so much energy and support into ensuring a success-ful evening, was ordered to bed by her doctor as she is not well.

President Penny welcomed our Thai guests George, Rung and family, Dang, Lim, Bernard, Raila and Peter Graf; Haru, our Japanese Exchange Student; guests Gary Cocks, Liz Fitzgerald, Jenny Anderson and Kyla Dowling
A multiculture menu was selected by Tippy and Haru
Entrée: Japanese Rice Balls
Miso Soup
Mains: Red curry Pork
Stir fried Chicken with mixed vegetables
Jasmine steamed rice
Dessert: Khao Tom Mat and ice cream and Thai Topping.
(Special Thanks to Boston of Ying Thai Restaurant, Carlton, for his generosity in making and donating the dessert).
David, on behalf of Tippy, announced that proceeds from tonight will be directed to “Death with Dignity”, which will ensure that low income families in Thailand who suffer a death in their family, particularly from road accidents, will be supported financially to allow a decent burial for their loved one.

MC David gave a brief history of Youth Ex-change between Australia and Japan, which commenced in 1962, after the RI Convention held in Japan in 1961, when Rosebud Rotary Club welcomed a Japanese exchange student into their club. Yea has been lucky to co-host Haru with RC of Broadmeadows and will be sad to see her return home on the 9th of July.
