Social Evening with the Rotary Club of Seymour
President Tony welcomed our guests from the Rotary Club of Seymour.
He also reminded members that next week was Thai Night.
After dinner, President Tony summarised our club and all the things we do then hand-ed the microphone to Julie to talk about the Ruth Konig Scholarship. Julie talked about Ruth’s passion which led to the funding of the project at Dayspring Children’s Village and how this project is now complete.
Now funds are allocated to scholarships for students leaving Yea for tertiary study and are worth $2000 per year for three years. We currently sponsor 3 children and funds are still raised via the Ruth Konig Walk held at District Conference annually.
Tippy then talked about our international project—the English Corners. Two have been completed and one (the final one) is still in progress.
Seymour President Greg Buyers thanked Yea for their hospitality and commented that the two clubs are very similar. Their latest initiative is the Seymour Market run as a fundraiser as well as raising the profile of Rotary in Seymour.
