The first meeting of the new Rotary year - Club Assembly
President Sue welcomed all and expressed her thanks for a most enjoyable evening at last week’s changeover. She was most gratified to receive such wonderful support. Sue provided a few reminders about the year ahead
• Patience with each other as we are all volunteers striving to do what we can.
• She encouraged members to bring concerns & ideas to her.
• Club Assemblies to be productive and as open as possible.
• She strongly emphasised the need to respect the speaker and some ways to achieve this.
• Joint Board meeting considered ideas for a project for the centenary of Rotary in Australia in 2021. Members invited to consider ideas for a ‘centenary project’ and bring to next Club Assembly.

Terry Hubbard provided an update on the Murrindindi Shire Community Planning Pilot Project which is being trialled in Yea, Marysville and Toolangi-Castella. Community groups put forward ideas and identify priorities for their community’s future. An enormous ‘wish ‘ list has thus far been created. Shire staff have been invited to present the Community Planning concept to the Club, possibly combining with a brief explanation of the Moving Murrindindi Community Transport Program. This program assists those in need of transport to medical appointments etc and our club may be in part a source of the volunteer driver pool.

David Anderson then explained the purpose of the Connecting the Club initiative whereby members introduced themselves to another member in a short 45 seconds. Not quite the ‘speed dating’ concept as envisaged by Pres Sue and David as members were slow to move between stations, but useful interactions did take place in the short time available.
Sergeants Session:
President Sue introduced 3 of her 4 Sergeants for the year; Terry, Val and John Sinclair (Paul K currently on leave).
