GUEST SPEAKER Matt Herridge - Retts Syndrome
Matt spoke from the personal experience of his good friend, Leigh Lawrance, whose daughter, Gypsy, has Retts Syndrome. Using his passion for community football (having grown up in Eildon and played locally as well as playing AFL reserves and suburban football), Matt is now playing Gridiron, and together with Gridi-ron Victoria, has created a country shield game, to be played in Alexandra on 14th October, raising awareness and important funds for the research into the cure of Retts Syndrome. To promote and support the cause, Matt is walking (with in inaugural shield) from Croydon to Alexandra, via Murrindindi and the GV Rail Trail.
Retts Syndrome is a severe disorder of the nervous system, caused by genetic mutation, affecting early brain growth in children. It predominately affects females, with the incidence 1:9000 of female births. Regression in growth and development appears from 6—18 months. It causes a progressive loss of motor skills and language.
Whilst Rett is a unique neurological disorder, research is progressing towards reversing symptoms.

3 Minute Speaker—Russell Hogg
Being in business and marketing for many years, Russell revealed one of his long time interests — the power of advertising and the ability to build brand loyalty through branding logos, lyrics and jingles (earworms!!) We all had fun being “happy little vegemites” again, remembering, reciting and singing many product pro-motions we grew up with. Thanks for the memories, Russell!
