Guest Speaker: Chris Brennan. Star Wars Fandom. Chris is a writer, published author, actor and producer who now resides in Yea. He began his fascination with Stars Wars at age ten, when as a self confessed ‘huge science nerd’ he 
watched the first Star Wars movie in 1977. It was the ‘Year of Change’ for Chris. He became obsessed with everything associated with the Star Wars franchise and has now amassed an amazing collection of memorabilia which at one time occupied the entire upper story of his home!

He became obsessed with everything associated with the Star Wars franchise and has now amassed an amazing collection of memorabilia which at one time occupied the entire upper story of his home! Chris has been the Director of the Star Wars Appreciation Society of Australia sharing his passion with like minded individuals. Fandom (comprising the community of fans of the Star Wars series) has taken him across the world, organising international conventions, fan events and tours. Chris is a prolific creator of films, has appeared on a number of radio and tv programs, written novellas and comic books.
Currently he is working on his latest children’s book– ‘Paul the Platypus’ set in our own Yea Wetlands. He has dreams of establishing a science Fiction Museum in Yea, where his memorabilia could be unpacked and displayed.

3 Minuter Glenn Milliken. Glenn provided a snapshot of an interest of his - the Vera C. Rubin Observatory located at 2,682 metres above sea level in Cerro Pachon Chile which will revolutionise the way we explore the cosmos. The telescope’s mirror has a huge 8 metre lens (equivalent to 45 moons in diameter) and weighs 15.5 tonnes which can slew to a different target in only 5 seconds. It will have the capacity to re image the entire southern sky in 3-4 nights (previous telescopes would take up to 10 years). All images over a 10 year period will be stitched together to make a movie of the changing universe. An incredible data avalanche of information will be collected. In one night, 20 terabytes of information will be collected – by comparison the entire Vic State Library’s collection of 2 million books is a mere 2-4 terabytes!

President Ann attended a Yea HS Senior Students’ Vocational Major presentation. The students are working on an upgrade to historical plaques on Yea’s historical buildings.
She also represented the Club at a hospital meeting focused on the Health on the Move initiative and the Mouth Mapping project.
