REMEMBERING RICHARD FORDE
Over dinner, a video tribute to Richard Forde was shown. This was put together by Ken Foletta, Glenda and Ian. Julie and Glenda have put together this evening as a tribute to Richard and all he and Janet had done for Rotary and the Community. Apologies had been received from John Sinclair who was to have spoken tonight but has been unwell.
Julie introduced Rob from Warrandyte/Donvale Club. Rob spoke about meeting Richard and Janet through involvement with their children’s school which led to great friendships. Richard was the Charter President of the Warrandyte Rotary Club in 1984 and his focus was on fellowship. Rob told us of the Bulletin which Richard took on, but handed over to Janet to get it prepared and circulated. Apparently some of the jokes were a bit borderline. Richard was a tireless worker for Rotary.
Julie told us that Richard joined Yea Rotary Club in 2010, the same year Marj, Gary Cocks and Gary Tierney were all inducted. In 2013/14 he was the Community Services officer. He was on the Racecourse Committee of Management and responsible for rosters, parking and the development of a Tote Van.
Marj focused on Richard’s kindness and observance and told us of being the recipient of both when her husband, John died. Richard was quietly, witty and smart. One of his roles was as the Director of Signs. He kept them up to date and his sheds were amply stacked with them—the only problem being they were difficult to find when needed.
Glenda called for further contributions from the floor.

JANET FORDE RECEIVES HONORARY MEMBERSHIP
President Tony then invited Janet Forde and her son John to the podium and presented Janet with an Honorary Membership of the Club in recognition of all she (and Richard) had done. Janet thanked everyone for their help over the past few years and keeping Richard involved in the Club. She also thanked us for the special tribute night tonight.
John Forde also thanked the club for tonight and for being an increasing part of Richard’s life.
