Nina talked about the proposed trial to be undertaken in Zone 8 to create a framework with models fitting Australia and the Pacific.
Tonight she was asking if our club wanted to be part of the pilot. If YES this would give us scope to shape Rotary to suit our zone.
Nina showed a video made by DG David McPherson who explained that it was important that we vote and that the proposed structure places area leaders in a place to provide best practice advice and assistance to clubs in their area. We will also end up with Rotary having one voice which will make it easier to work with the government and other organisations. DGs administrative tasks will be taken on board by a regional council. It’s important to remember that this is a pilot. Evaluation will take place and then the choice of how to go ahead will be made.
Questions followed and in summary, the answers were.
RI will be funding the new structure and looking to make it more affordable.
There will still be a RI office in Sydney
Fees are expected to reduce
There are 6 stages of transition
David Anderson reminded us that the first proposal to regionalise was rejected in 2012.
The success of the trial will be measured by such things and increased membership, better functioning clubs, an increase in leaders, changes in demographics.
Year four of the trial will see 2 sides operating side by side and at this point, if the trial is not successful, then it is envisaged that it will be feasible to go back to the district model.
