Friendship Evening Visit by Kinglake Ranges
Tonight we had 8 members from Kinglake Ranges Rotary Club attend our meeting, and to take advantage of the social occasion we enjoyed fellowship with our visitors until 7.30pm, before the meeting formally began.
Tony, Sue C, Kristy Luckman and Kayla were at the airport to welcome our exchange student Fabio who arrived on Saturday evening. Fabio is settling in to his year in Yea, has enrolled at Yea High School, and enjoyed farm visits
to Gary Cocks and Tonys farms.

Presentation by Yea Rotarian, Tippy Anderson, on current international project—English Corner for Thai Schools & Fun in Learning.
After a smile, English is our next common language, and by creating the op-portunity to learn the language in a fun environment, we are empowering our young ones to add value to their lives. We have assisted 2 schools establish learning spaces, assessing their needs to set up a creative and fun space by supplying learning materials and helping source resources to furnish their spaces. We have accessed recourses through Rotary Clubs, teacher friends, fundraising ie. Thai night at Yea RC and individuals.
Our aim is to make learning English fun and create an opportunity for all children.

Jordan, Kinglake Ranges RC, spoke of the project “Destiny Rescue” which they are fundraising to support.
Destiny Rescue charity was set up in 2001 to rescue children from sexual exploitation and human trafficking, and to help them stay free. 12,000 children have been rescued and given the chance to go back home or be rehabilitated and supported in secure housing. Most of the rescue work is in Asia, Latin America and Africa.
Social media and sex tourism has created access to in-nocent children by sinister followers, with children as young as 18 months targeted.
The dream is of a time that children can safely go to bed to sleep, not to work. Each rescue costs $1,800.00

Brad Quilliam, PP Kinglake Ranges RC, spoke of the club's involvement in RAWCS 2022 Flood Recovery project.
He has taken on the role of national project supervisor. The project has seen the distribution of donated funds to people effected by floods, to date $1,000,000 has been distributed by way of debit cards to assist, along with the repurposing of equipment and goods to go into the communities.
From the experience of Black Saturday,
Kinglake club has the empathy and experience to know that assistance for recovery will go on for many years.
Brad also encouraged us to ensure we make welcome and involve our past RYLA attendees in club activities, which will hopefully make for new membership and future leadership!
